Know How To Carry Yourself

When I dress up my clients, I don’t just pick up apparel according to their height or figure. A lot also depends on their facial features. It is extremely essential to understand the fact that one’s own identity is the most important. Fashion changes everyday. What matters the most is how you carry yourself.

It has been a whole lot of fun for me with each and every one of my clients. While everyone has a different taste and opinion about certain styles and colours, they often let me style them up my way. I must say, there is multitudinous difference in not just the choice of apparel, but also the preference in the style of wearing outfits, in celebrities of Bollywood and Tollywood.

One of my favorite clients is Bollywood actor Kareena Kapoor. She knows how to carry herself well, in both Eastern and Western wear. With her, it becomes easier to bring out the classy and exotic side that I want my designs to portray.

Although black is my favorite colour, but I myself prefer, and suggest Off-White. It is a colour one can carry with ease, look bright in the day time and flashy at night. But it is also essential to have a little heavy work of prints or surface effects so that it does not look too dull either.

Have confidence in yourself, and carry your clothes with comfort, you will for sure look the best in all your outfits.

A Mix of Bollywood & Tollywood

A model in my collection, in Kolkata

I have handled a lot of clients both in Calcutta, and in Bombay. There are many, who are under the impression that MUMBAI is fashion forward, more than any of the other metro cities in India. If I were asked, I’d say, from personal experience, if Mumbai is at 100, Kolkata does not lag behind by much. I’d rate Kolkata a 92.

While Rituparna Sengupta, Tollywood actress, is my regular client, who recently purchased a bunch of apparel right after the opening of my boutique ‘MANSI’, I have had the pleasure of dressing up other actors as well. For instance, Swastika Mukherjee. Her appearances on advertisements of Anjali Jewellers feature apparels that have the tag of MANSI.

It has been a whole lot of fun for me with each and every one of my clients.

Summer Splash of Shades and the Sun

While summer means a lot of bright and radiant colours, my personal favorite is the combination of a plain white tee, paired with light blue or green shorts, with a bright scarf to go with it.

One can sport a splash of pastel coloured apparel and contrasting colours of ballerinas which are still very in.

Summer attracts all the cool blues and yellows, pinks and whites. Bring out all the patterns and shades that keep you cool, and make you look cool at the same time.

Indulge into plenty of floral, checks, stripes and polka dots. They are the all-time wow-ers for kids, teens, tweens and the adults alike.

For Summer Party-Wear collection, visit MANSI at Golf Green, Kolkata, and check out our website: onlymansi.com

Don't forget, a dab of powder on a perfectly applied sun-screened face, shades to save your eyes from the scorching sun, and an umbrella - a must, if you go out under the Summer Sky. Better than wrapping that pretty face with a piece of cloth. There are plenty other ways to save yourself the ugly tan.

Get yourself the brightest coloured umbrella and never forget to carry it...be it cloudy, sunny, or a dark sky. Scorching sun, or rains, the umbrella saves you anyway.

About My Label MANSI And My Celebrity Clienteles

It gives me a huge sense of pleasure when I see my label around the entire country. A fashion designer’s delight is to find their work reaching the mass on the whole. The label MANSI is presently available at various stores such as Elahe, Fuel, Mogra, Aura, AZA, Thea’s and Origin. Another contribution that I am proud of is my widely acclaimed reference of “Mix and Match”, a book on textiles designs and dresses, which I had done in collaboration with textile designer Mr. K. Prakash.

Some of my regular celebrity clienteles that I proudly flaunt about are Rituparna Sengupta, Swastika Mukherjee, Diya Mirza, Paoli Dam, Locket Chatterjee, Gouri Khan, Kavita Krishnamurti, Alka Yagnik, Sadna Sargam and more. It was a special moment when Rituparna had graced the opening of my boutique MANSI, near Golf Green, with her presence, in my personally designed apparel. I have often heard seniors of my profession comment that my label MANSI has been making a subtle statement of its own, very silently, for a few years now.

About My Work

Being a graduate from Mumbai, I have contributed much of my work to their market. I got married to my very-supportive husband who was based in Kolkata, so I decided to shift to the City of Joy and share my work with people here. And today, here I am. It is here that I belong, with a freshly opened boutique of my own label - MANSI, which is very close to my heart.

Being a Fashion Designer by profession is not an easy task, but I love taking it as a challenge in my life. With fashion trends changing every season, where many find it hectic to keep up, I personally find it eclectic discovering what is ‘IN’, at times having a hand in creating it as well. I feel what I have as an upper hand is my experience of several years in the handloom sector with weavers. Now with my new boutique, my future endeavors look more promising and gives me further apprehension to spread my designed apparel and accessories all over the city.

About Me - Manasi

I am Manasi Sengupta, a Fashion Designer by profession, a graduate in Textile and Apparel Designer from Mumbai, currently residing in Kolkata with my in-laws.

I have been designing for many-a-big names in the entertainment industry, and outside of it. Being a Fashion Designer is not just a qualification or profession for me, it is a passion in the truest sense. It is my true love for designing that has got me as far as I have come in life. The feeling of intense anxiety that is built while working on a particular design is overwhelmingly addictive. No matter what I do, my mind is always wondering about what colour goes with what, and which new designs could I create, what kind of fashion would be ‘IN’ and how could I start a new trend. The amount of thinking that goes into my designs is not forced; it comes naturally to me due my immense love for what I do.
